11/05/12 – win €1000 cash on soapbox day!

We’ve just announced a couple of exciting additions to the day – directly after the Soapbox Race, we’ll be having a ball race!  We’ll be dropping 2000 numbered balls down the Astoria Road, channelling them into a funnel and the first ball through wins!  We’ll be selling the balls locally (you buy a line with your own unique number) for €5.00 and on the day.  The person who “owns” the ball that goes through the funnel first will win themselves €1000 cash!  Race cards will be in local shops over the coming days.

Directly after that we’re gonna be hungry so we’re going to have a barbecue, music and fun games just up the street at the Great Northern Hotel!  From around 4.30pm we’ll be serving burgers and chips with music supplied from local band Stonefree.  as with the earlier part of the day, all proceeds will go to Bundoran RNLI Lifeboat.  We would like to thank our generous sponsors for supplying the food and the Great Northern for providing the facilities!

Well there’s now less than four weeks to go and the talk around town is all about soapbox building!  Have you started yours yet??  We took a roadtrip to the Laghey Blast Festival yesterday where they were holding their own soapbox race – it was fun!  Check out some of the photos below!

Can you do better??  Get building!!

The soapbox race is just 5 weeks away from this Sunday (29th April) and already the excitement is starting to build!!  Following consultation we’ve slightly revised the technical specification – you can read the updated version here.

The poster has been sent out to all secondary schools in the region as well as all lifeboat stations on the island – if you’re thinking about entering then start building!!  Everyone is welcome to enter though and competition will be keen!!
